Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Neonatal sepsis and septic shock remain among the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in newborns worldwide. Despite advances in neonatal care, early diagnosis and effective management continue to pose significant challenges due to the unique immune responses and clinical presentations in this vulnerable population. Historically, the understanding of neonatal sepsis has evolved from broad-spectrum antibiotic use to include advanced diagnostic tools such as echocardiography and targeted hemodynamic therapies. This Special Issue aims to highlight the latest advances in pathophysiology, diagnostics, and treatment strategies in neonatal sepsis and septic shock. We seek cutting-edge research that explores novel biomarkers, organ function monitoring systems, and innovative clinical protocols. Contributions are welcome from basic science, translational studies, and clinical trials that can ultimately improve outcomes and reduce the global burden of neonatal septic shock.
