Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
This collection is the third edition of the previous Special Issue, "Plant–Pathogen Interaction".
Plant pathogens cause severe losses and represent major constraints on crop production and productivity in agricultural systems. Their impact is exacerbated by agricultural intensification and climate change, which have led to the emergence of new diseases and the increasing prevalence of more virulent strains, races, and pathotypes. In addition, growing restrictions on the use of synthetic plant protection products under European environmental policies further highlight the need for sustainable alternatives that can effectively safeguard crops.
Understanding how pathogens deploy adaptive mechanisms during plant infection, together with identifying plant regulatory components that determine resistance or susceptibility to disease, is essential for sustainable plant–disease management. Knowledge of the modes of action of new environmentally friendly biocontrol agents is equally crucial, as these products are emerging as promising tools to enhance crop resilience, promote plant growth, and strengthen natural defense systems.
For this Special Issue, we invite the submission of original research articles and reviews addressing these themes, with the aim of fostering more resilient, efficient, and sustainable agricultural systems and contributing to global food security.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Biology is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
