Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Plant growth and development are dynamic and highly coordinated processes shaped by the integration of intrinsic genetic programs and environmental factors. To fully understand the complexity of plant development, it is essential to unravel the molecular mechanisms that regulate this intricate biological system. Recent advances in molecular biology, high-throughput omics technologies, genome editing tools, and advanced phenotyping platforms have significantly expanded our knowledge of the regulatory networks controlling cell division, differentiation, organogenesis, and developmental transitions.
Key molecular pathways involving phytohormone signaling, transcriptional regulation, epigenetic modifications, post-translational regulation, and signaling crosstalk orchestrate developmental plasticity in response to environmental cues. Understanding how plants integrate environmental signals into developmental programs is crucial for improving crop resilience and productivity under rapidly changing climatic conditions.
This Special Issue aims to highlight innovative research that advances our understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying plant growth and developmental adaptation to environmental challenges. We welcome submissions of original research articles, reviews, mini-reviews, and methodological papers addressing, but not limited to, the following:
- Molecular regulators of plant growth and developmental transitions.
- Hormonal crosstalk and signaling networks.
- Transcriptomic, proteomic, metabolomic, and epigenomic analyses of plant responses to environmental stress.
- Gene editing and functional genomics approaches.
- Molecular markers and marker-assisted selection strategies.
- Systems biology and integrative multi-omics studies.
- Developmental plasticity and stress adaptation mechanisms.
By integrating fundamental and applied perspectives, this Special Issue aims to provide a comprehensive overview of current advances in plant growth regulation and environmental adaptation, fostering interdisciplinary dialog and supporting the development of climate-resilient crops.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. International Journal of Molecular Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. There is an Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal. For details about the APC please see here. Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
