Journal of Clinical Medicine | Interview with Dr. Hamzah Adwan, Winner of the Best Oral Presentation Award at the 2nd International Electronic Conference on Clinical Medicine
The Journal of Clinical Medicine (JCM, ISSN: 2077-0383, Impact Factor 3.0) successfully hosted the 2nd International Electronic Conference on Clinical Medicine from 13 to 15 November 2024. Following the event, we had the pleasure of interviewing Dr. Hamzah Adwan, winner of one of the Best Oral Presentation Awards. Dr. Adwan is based at the Clinic for Radiology and Nuclear Medicine, University Hospital Frankfurt, Goethe University, Frankfurt, Germany.
The following is an interview with Dr. Hamzah Adwan:
Personal and Research Background
1. Could you introduce yourself and share a bit about your research background and briefly describe the key focus and impact of your award-winning paper?
I am a medical doctor and am currently completing my residency in radiology in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. For the past few years, I have been conducting research at the University Hospital of Goethe University Frankfurt, focusing on interventional radiology. I have had the opportunity to present my work at several prestigious conferences and have published numerous studies. My research work has earned several awards and recognitions.
My award-winning paper focused on interventional treatments for liver metastases arising from colorectal cancer, utilizing minimally invasive techniques such as transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) and microwave ablation (MWA). We compared the combination of TACE followed by MWA with MWA alone as a treatment for liver metastases. Our study demonstrated the superiority of the combination therapy, particularly in terms of improved overall survival, significantly longer hepatic progression-free survival, and notably larger ablation zones when compared to the monotherapy group.
Award and Recognition
2. How does it feel to receive this award at the 2nd International Electronic Conference on Clinical Medicine? What do you think made your research stand out among other submissions?
Winning the Best Oral Presentation Award is an incredible feeling! I believe it is crucial to present research in a thorough yet simple way to engage the audience. However, this can be challenging, as the audience often has varying levels of knowledge about the topic. It is essential to ensure that the presentation is clear and accessible to everyone and that is what I tried to do, and it was well received.
3. How do you see this recognition influencing your future research or career?
Receiving such an award and recognition is a great source of motivation for me to continue my research and pursue further studies in my area of interest.
Conference Experience
4. How was your overall experience participating in this conference?
It was a fantastic experience. The conference was excellently organized, featuring a wide range of engaging sessions and topics.
5. Were there any particular sessions, discussions, or networking opportunities that stood out to you?
All the sessions were exceptionally organized and had a significant scientific impact. My favorite sessions were on gastroenterology and hepatopancreatobiliary medicine, as well as oncology and hematology.
6. Did the conference provide you with any valuable feedback or insights that could enhance your research?
Yes, absolutely. I gained valuable insights from the engaging discussions during the sessions, which will be beneficial for my future research.
Future Collaboration and Engagement
7. Do you see potential for collaboration with other researchers or institutions you met at the conference?
Yes, definitely! Conferences provide excellent opportunities to collaborate and network with colleagues from various countries and specialties.
8. Would you be interested in participating in future editions of the 3rd International Online Conference on Clinical Medicine, which is newly named IOCCM2025?
Certainly! I am very interested in participating in the upcoming edition of this conference and am already preparing abstracts for submission.
9. Are there any topics or formats you would like to see included in future conferences?
I would like to see more sessions focused on interventional radiology treatments, as these play a crucial role in managing both oncological and non-oncological diseases, offering minimally invasive procedures with high efficacy and safety.
Final Thoughts
10. What advice would you give to researchers looking to submit their work to this conference?
I strongly urge all colleagues, particularly young researchers, to seize the opportunity to participate in the upcoming conference and showcase their work. This is an incredible chance to present your research to a distinguished audience. There is nothing quite like the experience of sharing your work at such an event and receiving invaluable feedback from fellow researchers!
11. Is there anything else you would like to share about your experience or your future research plans?
I am currently working on several ongoing studies and planning additional research on various aspects of interventional radiology. I am excited to submit these studies for publication in the near future.
Continuing from the success of the 2nd International Electronic Conference on Clinical Medicine, we are delighted to invite you to join the 3rd International Online Conference on Clinical Medicine (IOCCM 2025).
