We are pleased to announce the launch of AI Biology (ISSN: 3043-2189) [1], an international, peer-reviewed, open access journal on the application of artificial intelligence in biology.
The application of AI is rapidly expanding across scientific disciplines, including the biological sciences. Although genomics and other data-intensive fields have been major areas of AI application, its use is increasingly extending across different levels of biological organization, from genes and cells to evolution and biodiversity. As AI continues to transform biological research, there is a growing need for a dedicated platform that connects methodological advances in AI with their applications to diverse biological questions. In response to this growing need, AI Biology provides a dedicated platform for research on AI and its applications across the biological sciences.
AI Biology focuses on the application of AI across a broad range of biological fields, including biomolecular analysis, omics and high-dimensional biological data analysis, phenotype and genotype analysis, systems and computational biology, biomolecular design and bioengineering, cellular and organismal biology, evolutionary and population biology, biodiversity, ecology and environmental conservation, experimental design and optimization, microbiology and microbiome-related fields, animal and plant sciences, biological big data and multimodal data science, as well as biology-inspired AI approaches. The focus is not only on the development of AI methods, including a wide range of bioinformatics methods, but also on their application to biological questions and the generation of new biological insights. AI Biology has no restrictions on the maximum length of manuscripts, while full experimental details should be provided to ensure the reproducibility of the reported results.
The journal welcomes contributions from researchers and interdisciplinary communities working at the intersection of artificial intelligence and biology. AI Biology provides a platform for the exchange of research and knowledge in this evolving field and welcomes future authors, readers, and Editorial Board Members.
