Cover Story: A hybrid approach involving a residual neural network with a recurrent neural network is implemented. Error metrics for data-driven simulations demonstrate the superiority of the ResNet-GRU hybrid. The epidemiological importance of this study is demonstrated through a COVID-19 vaccination model with vaccine efficacy. The learned dynamics of the model by the proposed hybrid neural network are consistent with the data and assert the fact that vaccinating the public will curtail the spread of the disease faster.
