We are pleased to welcome the Journal of Fiber Bioengineering and Informatics (JFBI) (eISSN 2617-8699) [1] to MDPI. The journal, previously published by Global Science Press in the hybrid model, will be published as an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal starting with Volume 19, Issue 4 (2026).
JFBI promotes multidisciplinary research (material, thermal, mechanic, sensory, esthetic, medical, electronic, ecological, manufacturing technology and informatics) to explore knowledge and advance concepts in fiber bioengineering.
The journal has been led by Prof. Dr. Henry Li since its launch in 2008. Following journal transfer, Prof. Juming Yao will be promoted from co-EiC to the leading EiC role while Prof. Dr. Henry Li will continue to stay involved with the journal by facilitating a smooth editor transition.
Both the Textile Bioengineering and Informatics Society (TBIS) and the Zhejiang Textile Engineering Society (ZTES) will retain JFBI as their official journal, now under MDPI ownership and guidance. A Managing Editor will be appointed at MDPI to provide administrative support. Please reach out to the Editorial Office at jfbi@mdpi.com as relevant.
We would like to extend a very warm welcome to the Editors-in-Chief, Editorial Board Members, members of TBIS and ZTES, authors, reviewers, and readers to MDPI. We look forward to advancing fiber engineering together.
