Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

This paper is a good summary of the application of UAV based technologies to mapping. I believe that it is informing, concise and relevant.

Reviewer 2 Report

This was a very well-written paper, which summarizes the literature about about modern performance and applications of UAV-based photogrammetry and LIDAR technologies in civil and construction industry. Paper cover topics including sensing technology types, data product integration, data quality and error models, practical application cases and safety-related issues.

I found article very interesting. The use of UAV for construction is very important.  The research design is appropriate. The title of the paper reflects its content.

It is recommended that the authors provide not only description of benefits and limitations of photogrammetry and LIDAR technologies, but compare them and also describe the possibilities of their joint use. There is also a lack of illustrations showing the difference between UAV-based photogrammetry and LIDAR technologies results.
