Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

In this article, the authors have presented the impact of Covid-19 on walkability. An important part of promoting urban neighborhoods is in the main urban area of Xi’an, China. The paper quantitatively compares changes in specific components of selected streetscapes through 17 a deep learning street-view analysis on the basis of street view data.

The paper should be amended by addressing the comments below:

·        What are the limitations of this study?

·        What control measures should be removed to increase walkability?

·        How is the chance of error in this model as compared to the original figures?

Reviewer 2 Report

The authors discussed the impact of the pandemic on walkability, an important factor in promoting urban neighborhoods. Based on the street view data obtained before and after the pandemic, the paper quantitatively compares changes in specific components of selected streetscapes through a deep learning (DL) street view analysis. It is a well-structured paper with interesting results. However, it requires further improvements.

1. The main contributions of this paper should be further summarized and clearly demonstrated. The reviewer suggests the authors exactly mention what is new compared with existing approaches and why the proposed approach is needed to be used instead of the existing methods. 2. The method/approach in the context of the proposed work should be written in detail.

3. The computation complexity of the proposed method should be clearly described.

4. Abstract requires improvement. Insert problem and the proposed solution. 5. Figures 7 and 8 are not showing completely in Lines 457-460. Please revise them.

6. What are the limitations behind this study? This topic should be highlighted somewhere in the text of manuscript.

7. Some new references should be added to improve the reviews the literatures.
