Cover Story: The heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems should be designed so that the spread of disease can be avoided. Most viruses, including SARS-CoV-2, are combined with water and other components as droplets and aerosol particles with a size of 0.25–0.5 µm. HEPA filters can remove up to 90–99% of the particle at 0.3 µm in size but have a big pressure drop. The UV disinfection can have a good efficiency and low energy consumption but needs a large space for installation. Systems with 100% fresh air and heat recovery devices should be considered mandatory for new systems. View this paper
