Cover Story: Researchers aim to understand the social factors and personality traits that differentially predict chronic engagement in serious antisocial and criminal behavior. The present study aimed to concurrently compare how dark triad personality traits and low self-control differ in terms of predicting self-reported juvenile delinquency, CD symptoms, proactive overt aggression, and crime seriousness. The sample consisted of Southern European youth from Portugal. SEM statistical procedures were used to examine the data, with the findings suggesting that dark triad psychopathy surpasses low self-control and the remaining factors of the dark triad in terms of predicting antisocial/criminal outcomes in youth. Such findings can guide the design of preventive and early intervention strategies. View this paper
