Cover Story: Interprofessional collaboration (IPC) is crucial for high-quality, woman-centred care. Its practical implementation poses a particular challenge. A multi-group analysis contrasts the perceptions of midwives and physicians regarding IPC and equitable communication (EC) in obstetrics and midwifery care. An additional examination of test fairness expands the current state of knowledge by assessing the suitability of self-assessments for fair and valid comparisons between professional groups. The results indicate that midwives consistently rate various aspects of IPC, particularly EC, lower than physicians, although these discrepancies are particularly pronounced in birth care. This study provides detailed insights into IPC processes and dynamics and identifies starting points for the successful implementation of IPC in healthcare practice. View this paper
