Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

1. Please explain the meaning of (m/v) in the abstract.

2. The structure of the article should be improved. Meanwhile, the quality of the figures should be improved too. As two main parameters are compared, the inhibitor and the temperature. Please process the results and raw data, and then give out a clear picture of the effect of these parameters.

3. Could the authors use a picture to show the FTIR pattern and the Raman pattern other than tables?

4. It is suggested to use XRD to confirm the phases in the corrosion products.

5. What is the effect of temperature on the corrosion behavior of the samples? The reviewer could not find a conclusion in the conclusions section.

  1. Please explain the meaning of (m/v) in the abstract.

The meaning, i.e. mass/volume, has been added to the abstract where (m/v) occurred.

  1. The structure of the article should be improved. Meanwhile, the quality of the figures should be improved too. As two main parameters are compared, the inhibitor and the temperature. Please process the results and raw data, and then give out a clear picture of the effect of these parameters.

The manuscript was edited by a native English speaker (academic) and the figures adjusted to remove those with the worst quality. It was shown clearly in the results what the effects of the different inhibitors and temperature on the corrosion behaviour were, and clear conclusions in this regard were drawn and included in the last section of the manuscript.

  1. Could the authors use a picture to show the FTIR pattern and the Raman pattern other than tables?

A FT-IR spectrum and Raman scan have been added to the text.

  1. It is suggested to use XRD to confirm the phases in the corrosion products.

While it is customary to use XRD to characterise corrosion products, in this investigation Raman spectra were used to obtain the same information. The reason Raman characterisation was preferred, is because it can detect crystalline as well as amorphous corrosion products being formed, contrary to XRD scans which can only detect crystalline compounds.

  1. What is the effect of temperature on the corrosion behavior of the samples? The reviewer could not find a conclusion in the conclusions section.

A separate point was added to the conclusions section to state that increasing temperature caused an increase in the corrosion current densities and corrosion rates of the alloys in the presence of the inhibitors, and that the inhibitor efficiencies generally decreased with increasing temperature.

Reviewer 2 Report

The authors have written a well-structured and thought research article. The background of the introduction is sufficiently described. I just have a few some suggestions to experimental part and results and discussion:

Page 2, 2. Experimental Procedures, 2.1. Test and Inhibitor Solutions:

Please provide information about the reagents suppliers (NaCl, Cerium acetylacetone etc.).

Page 3, 2.2. Material Preparation:

Please provide information about the suppliers of acetone.

Page 5, line 198, please insert a space between Figure 2 and This observation (Figure 2.This observation).

There is no Figure 5 in manuscript, but there's a reference to it in the text. In turn, there is a figure 12 in the manuscript, but there is no reference to it in the text. Please correct it.

Figure 5 has been referred to in the text, and figure 12 has been added. However, with the slight change and adjustments of figures, this has now become figure..

Round 2

Reviewer 1 Report

The article has improved.

While I still think that the discription such as 0.5 % mass per volume (m/v) is quite confusing,  is it 0.5 g/mL? 0.5 g/L? 0.5mg/mL? 0.005 mg/L? 0.005g/mL? or other meaning?
