The manuscript derived an analytical formula for the electrophoretic mobility of charged colloids, which is the extension of one founded by Ohshima for low surface potential to large potential. The authors derived the formula and compared it with the numerical calculation to verify the validity of the range where the equation hold. I think it is useful for those who measure the electrophoretic mobility of colloids and compare it with theory. I recommend its publication after revising a few points suggested below.

  • "in 1980 by O’Brien and White", this is wrong. The correct year is 1978.
  • section 8.1, "As mentionned" will be "An mentioned"
  • In eq. (18), "D" will be "D_i"
  • The second equation below the line 120, "-\mu E_0" will be correct. Also the same as eq. 63. They show "u(r\to\infty) = - ^- E_0" in my environment.

Thanks for the comments. Here are our replies:

  • In eq. (18), "D" will be "D_i" => changed
  • The second equation below the line 120, "-\mu E_0" will be correct. Also the same as eq. 63. They show "u(r\to\infty) = - ^- E_0" in my environment. => this is a problem that arose when the Editor built the pdf - the (new) text file will now be uploaded and we will take care to carefully read the proofs.
