Insurance and Risk Management Advances in the 4A Era—AI, Aging, Abruptions, and Adoptions

Topic Information

Dear Colleagues,

We are in a turbulent era marked by the proliferation of nascent risks, which present insurance and risk management with unprecedented challenges and opportunities to contribute to humanity. Specifically, AI's integration into human activities on a full scale, aging combined with global population decline, abruption due to geopolitical tensions and climate change, and adoption costs rising from intensified regulation caused by protectionism and conservatism constitute four defining forces shaping the future of insurance and risk management. These four challenges, all starting with the letter A—AI, Aging, Abruption, and Adoption—collectively form what we refer to as the 4A era.

In this Topic, researchers and industry professionals are invited to contribute insights on how theories and practices in insurance and risk management will evolve in this 4A era. Original research articles, case studies, and reviews are welcome. Areas of interest include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Advances in insurance and risk management through the utilization of Large Language Models (LLMs);
  • Cutting-edge data science and the evolving landscapes of insurance and risk management in theory and practice;
  • Life insurance, health insurance, and risk management in the context of gene editing and the brain–chip interface;
  • Developments in weather insurance, carbon-related insurance, green insurance, and InsurTech in the 4A era;
  • How the intersection of aging and a declining population will reshape the mindset, regulations, theories, practices, and mathematical models in insurance and risk management, particularly within East Asian economies;
  • The ramifications of geopolitical tensions on insurance and risk management in history and reality;
  • Changes in insurance regulation in the 4A era and their consequential implications.

We welcome varied research on the aforementioned topics, with the aspiration of igniting intellectual exchange across various fields. Through collaboration, researchers can present their avant-garde and experimental notions and methodologies, which have the potential to inspire efficacious insurance and risk management solutions for the welfare of humanity in this 4a era. We look forward to receiving your contributions.
