This paper presents a new methodical procedure to monitor in real time the junction temperature of SiC Power MOSFET modules of parallel-connected chips utilized in machine drive systems to develop their reliability modelling and predict their lifetime. The paper implements the on-line measurements of temperature-sensitive electrical parameters (TSEP) approach, particularly the quasi-threshold voltage and the on-state drain to source voltage, to estimate the junction temperature in real time. The proposed procedure firstly applied computational fluid dynamics analysis on the module under study to determine the chip which undergoes the maximum junction temperature during typical operation of the module. Then, a calibration phase, using double-pulse tests on the selected chip, is used to generate look-up tables to relate the TSEPs under study to the junction temperature. Next, the real-time estimation of junction temperature was accomplished during the on-line operation of the three-phase inverter, taking into account the induced distortion/noises due to operation of the parallel-connected chips in the module. After that, a comparison between the two TSEPs under study was provided to demonstrate their advantages/drawbacks. Finally, reliability modelling was developed to predict the lifetime of the studied module based on the estimated junction temperature under a predetermined mission profile. Full article

Background: Transfection is vital for gene therapy, mRNA treatments, CAR-T cell therapy, and regenerative medicine. While viral vectors are effective, non-viral systems like lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) offer safer, more flexible alternatives. This work explores emerging non-viral transfection technologies to improve delivery efficiency and therapeutic outcomes. Methods: This review synthesizes the current literature and recent advancements in non-viral transfection technologies. It focuses on the mechanisms, advantages, and limitations of various delivery systems, including lipid nanoparticles, biodegradable polymers, electroporation, peptide-based carriers, and microfluidic platforms. Comparative analysis was conducted to evaluate their performance in terms of transfection efficiency, cellular uptake, biocompatibility, and potential for clinical translation. Several academic search engines and online resources were utilized for data collection, including Science Direct, PubMed, Google Scholar Scopus, the National Cancer Institute’s online portal, and other reputable online databases. Results: Non-viral systems demonstrated superior performance in delivering mRNA, siRNA, and antisense oligonucleotides, particularly in clinical applications. Biodegradable polymers and peptide-based systems showed promise in enhancing biocompatibility and targeted delivery. Electroporation and microfluidic systems offered precise control over transfection parameters, improving reproducibility and scalability. Collectively, these innovations address key challenges in gene delivery, such as stability, immune response, and cell-type specificity. Conclusions: The continuous evolution of transfection technologies is pivotal for advancing gene and cell-based therapies. Non-viral delivery systems, particularly LNPs and emerging platforms like microfluidics and biodegradable polymers, offer safer and more adaptable alternatives to viral vectors. These innovations are critical for optimizing therapeutic efficacy and enabling personalized medicine, immunotherapy, and regenerative treatments. Future research should focus on integrating these technologies to develop next-generation transfection platforms with enhanced precision and clinical applicability. Full article

(1) Background: Rapid population aging in China intensifies physical and mental health challenges, including negative emotions and social barriers. Physical activity (PA) fosters resilience, adaptability, and successful aging through emotional and social benefits. This study examines the relationship between square-dancing exercise and psychological capital (PsyCap) in middle-aged and elderly individuals using cross-validation, subgroup analysis, and a cross-sequential design. (2) Methods: A cross-sectional study with 5714 participants employed a serial mediation model. Online questionnaires assessed square-dancing exercise, cognitive reappraisal, prosocial behavior tendencies, PsyCap, and interpersonal relationships. Statistical analyses were conducted using SPSS 27.0 and Mplus 8.3, incorporating correlation analysis, structural equation modeling, and subgroup comparisons. (3) Results: (a) Cognitive reappraisal and prosocial behavior mediated the link between square-dancing and PsyCap through three pathways; (b) model stability was confirmed across two random subsamples; (c) cross-group differences emerged in age and interpersonal relationships. Compared with secondary data, this study further validated PsyCap’s stability over six months post-pandemic. (4) Conclusions: The study, based on China’s largest square-dancing sample, establishes a robust serial mediation model. The findings strengthen theoretical foundations for PA-based interventions promoting psychological resilience in aging populations, highlighting structured exercise’s role in mental and social well-being. Background: Point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) is gaining recognition as a valuable diagnostic tool in various fields of medicine, including pediatrics. Its application at the point of care enables real-time clinical decision-making, which is particularly advantageous in pediatric settings. Although global interest in POCUS is growing, many European countries—including Poland—still lack formal training programs for POCUS at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Nevertheless, the number of pediatricians incorporating POCUS into their daily clinical practice in Poland is increasing. However, the extent of its use and perceived value among pediatricians remains largely unknown. This study aimed to evaluate the current level of POCUS utilization in pediatric care in Poland, focusing on pediatricians’ self-assessed competencies, perceptions of its clinical utility, and key barriers to its implementation in daily practice. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted between July and August 2024 using an anonymous online survey distributed to pediatricians throughout Poland via national professional networks, with a response rate of 7.3%. Categorical variables were analyzed using the chi-square test of independence to assess the associations between key variables. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, and qualitative data from open-ended responses were subjected to a thematic analysis. Results: A total of 210 pediatricians responded. Among them, 149 (71%) reported access to ultrasound equipment at their workplace, and 89 (42.4%) reported having participated in some form of POCUS training. Only 46 respondents (21.9%) reported frequently using POCUS in their clinical routine. The self-assessed POCUS competence was rated as low or very low by 136 respondents (64.8%). While POCUS was generally perceived as a helpful tool in facilitating and accelerating clinical decisions, the main barriers to implementation were a lack of formal training and limited institutional support. Conclusions: Although POCUS is perceived as clinically valuable by the surveyed pediatricians in Poland, its routine use remains limited due to training and systemic barriers. Future efforts should prioritize the development of a validated, competency-based training framework and the implementation of a larger, representative national study to guide the structured integration of POCUS into pediatric care. The search for the biomarkers of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) may prove essential in the diagnosis and prognosis of the pathology, and the differential expression of key proteins may assist in identifying new therapeutic targets. In this proof-of-concept (POC) study, a new approach of data mining and matching combined with the biochemical analysis of proteins was applied to AD investigation. Three influential online open databases (UniProt, AlzGene, and Allen Human Brain Atlas) were explored to identify the genes and encoded proteins involved in AD linked to mitochondrial and iron dysmetabolism. The databases were searched using specific keywords to collect information about protein composition, and function, and meta-analysis data about their correlation with AD. The extracted datasets were matched to yield a list of relevant proteins in AD. The biochemical analysis of their amino acid content suggested a defective synthesis of these proteins in poorly oxygenated brain tissue, supporting their relevance in AD progression. The result of our POC study revealed several potential new markers of AD that deserve further molecular and clinical investigation. This novel database search approach can be a valuable strategy for biomarker search that can be exploited in many diseases. Full article

Understanding what people think about hydrogen energy and how this influences their acceptance of the associated technology is a critical area of research. The public’s willingness to adopt practical applications of hydrogen energy, such as hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles (HFCVs), is a key factor in their deployment. To analyse the direct and indirect effects of key attitudinal variables that could influence the intention to use HFCVs in Spain, an online questionnaire was administered to a representative sample of the Spanish population (N = 1000). A path analysis Structural Equation Model (SEM) was applied to determine the effect of different attitudinal variables. A high intention to adopt HFCVs in Spain was found (3.8 out of 5), assuming their wider availability in the future. The path analysis results indicated that general acceptance of hydrogen technology and perception of its benefits had the greatest effect on the public’s intention to adopt HFCVs. Regarding indirect effects, the role of trust in hydrogen technology was notable, having significant mediating effects not only through general acceptance of hydrogen energy and local acceptance of hydrogen refuelling stations (HRS), but also through positive and negative emotions and benefits perception. The findings will assist in focusing the future hydrogen communication strategies of both the government and the private (business) sector. Full article

As augmented reality (AR) advertising becomes increasingly prevalent across digital platforms, understanding how its unique features influence consumer responses is critical for both theory and practice. Based on the elaboration likelihood model (ELM), this study develops and validates a dual-dimension content–dual-route processing model to investigate how different features of AR advertising influence consumer engagement. Specifically, it examines how product-related attributes (attractiveness, informativeness) and technology-related attributes (interactivity, augmentation) shape attitudes toward the ad and purchase intentions through cognitive (information credibility) and affective (enjoyment) pathways. Using data from an online survey (N = 299), the study applies partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) to test the proposed model. The results show that informativeness and augmentation significantly enhance information credibility, while attractiveness primarily influences emotional responses. Interactivity and augmentation positively influence cognitive and affective responses. Mediation analysis confirms the simultaneous activation of central and peripheral processing routes, with flow experience emerging as a significant moderator in selected pathways. By introducing a structured framework for AR advertising content, this study extends the applicability of the ELM in immersive media contexts. It underscores the combined impact of rational evaluation and emotional engagement in shaping consumer behavior and offers practical insights for designing effective AR advertising strategies. This study examines how Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) reporting is communicated and perceived on YouTube. A dataset of 553 relevant videos and 5060 user comments was extracted on 2 April 2025 ranging between 2014 and 2025, and sentiment, topic, and stance analyses were applied to both transcripts and comments. The majority of video content strongly endorsed ESG reporting, emphasizing themes such as transparency, regulatory compliance, and financial performance. In contrast, viewer comments revealed diverse stances, including skepticism about methodological inconsistencies, accusations of greenwashing, and concerns over politicization. Notably, statistical analysis showed minimal correlation between video sentiment and audience sentiment, suggesting that user perceptions are shaped by factors beyond the tone of the videos themselves. These findings underscore the need for more rigorous ESG frameworks, enhanced standardization, and proactive stakeholder engagement strategies. The study highlights the value of online platforms for capturing stakeholder feedback in real time, offering practical insights for organizations and policymakers seeking to strengthen ESG disclosure and communication. The force ripple of a permanent magnet synchronous linear motor (PMSLM) caused by multi-source disturbances in practical applications seriously restricts its high-precision motion control performance. The traditional single-mechanism model has difficulty fully characterizing the nonlinear disturbance factors, while the data-driven method has real-time limitations. Therefore, this paper proposes a hybrid modeling framework that integrates the physical mechanism and measured data and realizes the dynamic compensation of the force ripple by constructing a collaborative suppression algorithm. At the mechanistic level, based on electromagnetic field theory and the virtual displacement principle, an analytical model of the core disturbance terms such as the cogging effect and the end effect is established. At the data level, the acceleration sensor is used to collect the dynamic response signal in real time, and the data-driven ripple residual model is constructed by combining frequency domain analysis and parameter fitting. In order to verify the effectiveness of the algorithm, a hardware and software experimental platform including a multi-core processor, high-precision current loop controller, real-time data acquisition module, and motion control unit is built to realize the online calculation and closed-loop injection of the hybrid compensation current. Experiments show that the hybrid framework effectively compensates the unmodeled disturbance through the data model while maintaining the physical interpretability of the mechanistic model, which provides a new idea for motor performance optimization under complex working conditions. Tea cultivation faces significant threats from red spider mite (RSM: Oligonychus coffeae) infestations, which reduce yields and economic viability in major tea-producing regions. Current automated detection methods rely on supervised deep learning models requiring extensive labeled data, limiting scalability for smallholder farmers. This article proposes AIM-Net (AI-based Infestation Mapping Network) by evaluating SwAV (Swapping Assignments between Views), a self-supervised learning framework, for classifying RSM infestation severity (Mild, Moderate, Severe) using a geo-referenced, field-acquired dataset of RSM infested tea-leaves, Cam-RSM. The methodology combines SwAV pre-training on unlabeled data with fine-tuning on labeled subsets, employing multi-crop augmentation and online clustering to learn discriminative features without full supervision. Comparative analysis against a fully supervised ResNet-50 baseline utilized 5-fold cross-validation, assessing accuracy, F1-scores, and computational efficiency. Results demonstrate SwAV’s superiority, achieving 98.7% overall accuracy (vs. 92.1% for ResNet-50) and macro-average F1-scores of 98.3% across classes, with a 62% reduction in labeled data requirements. The model showed particular strength in Mild_RSM-class detection (F1-score: 98.5%) and computational efficiency, enabling deployment on edge devices. Statistical validation confirmed significant improvements (p < 0.001) over baseline approaches. These findings establish self-supervised learning as a transformative tool for precision pest management, offering resource-efficient solutions for early infestation detection while maintaining high accuracy. Background/Objectives. This manuscript presents an overview of advances in oncological radiotherapy as an effective treatment method for cancerous tumors, focusing on mechanisms of action within metabolite–antimetabolite systems. The urgency of this topic is underscored by the fact that cancer remains one of the leading causes of death worldwide: as of 2022, approximately 20 million new cases were diagnosed globally, accounting for about 0.25% of the total population. Given prognostic models predicting a steady increase in cancer incidence to 35 million cases by 2050, there is an urgent need for the latest developments in physics, chemistry, molecular biology, pharmacy, and strict adherence to oncological vigilance. The purpose of this work is to demonstrate the relationship between the nature and mechanisms of past diagnostic and therapeutic oncology approaches, their current improvements, and future prospects. Particular emphasis is placed on isotope technologies in the production of therapeutic nuclides, focusing on the mechanisms of formation of simple and complex theranostic compounds and their classification according to target specificity. Methods. The methodology involved searching, selecting, and analyzing information from PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science databases, as well as from available official online sources over the past 20 years. The search was structured around the structure–mechanism–effect relationship of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). The manuscript, including graphic materials, was prepared using a narrative synthesis method. Results. The results present a sequential analysis of materials related to isotope technology, particularly nucleus stability and instability. An explanation of theranostic principles enabled a detailed description of the action mechanisms of radiopharmaceuticals on various receptors within the metabolite–antimetabolite system using specific drug models. Attention is also given to radioactive nanotheranostics, exemplified by the mechanisms of action of radioactive nanoparticles such as Tc-99m, AuNPs, wwAgNPs, FeNPs, and others. Conclusions. Radiotheranostics, which combines the diagnostic properties of unstable nuclei with therapeutic effects, serves as an effective adjunctive and/or independent method for treating cancer patients. Despite the emergence of resistance to both chemotherapy and radiotherapy, existing nuclide resources provide protection against subsequent tumor metastasis. However, given the unfavorable cancer incidence prognosis over the next 25 years, the development of “preventive” drugs is recommended. Progress in this area will be facilitated by modern medical knowledge and a deeper understanding of ligand–receptor interactions to trigger apoptosis in rapidly proliferating cells. Full article

Recent years have seen frequent heavy rainfall events in Japan, often linked to Baiu fronts and typhoons. These events are exacerbated by global warming, leading to an increased frequency and intensity. As floods represent a serious threat to sustainable urban development and community resilience, this study contributes to sustainability-focused risk reduction through integrated analysis. This study focuses on the 2 June 2023 heavy rain disaster in Toyohashi City, Japan, which caused extensive damage due to flooding from the Yagyu and Umeda Rivers. Using numerical models, this study accurately reproduces flooding patterns, revealing that high tides amplified the inundation area by 1.5 times at the Yagyu River. A resident questionnaire conducted in collaboration with Toyohashi City identifies key trends in evacuation behavior and disaster information usage. Traditional media such as TV remain dominant, but younger generations leverage electronic devices for disaster updates. These insights emphasize the need for targeted information dissemination and enhanced disaster preparedness strategies, including online materials and flexible training programs. The methods and findings presented in this study can inform local and regional governments in building adaptive disaster management policies, which contribute to a more sustainable society. Background: Exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI or PEI) may be prevalent in as many as 3 of 10 people with diabetes due to exocrine pancreatic function being reduced as early as the time of diagnosis. EPI can be treated with pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy (PERT), but the symptom burden of EPI remains high and improved screening and diagnosis methods are needed. Methods: An online survey (n = 324) evaluated the gastrointestinal symptom experiences of people with (n = 155) and without (n = 169) EPI using a novel symptom tool, the Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency Symptom Score (EPI/PEI-SS). A large sub-group (n = 120) of people with diabetes with EPI (Type 1, n = 14, Type 2, n = 20) or without EPI (Type 1, n = 78; Type 2; n = 6) was characterized and compared to those without diabetes (n = 204) in a sub-analysis of the larger EPI/PEI-SS study. Results: The symptom burden of EPI is similar, irrespective of diabetes. Like those without diabetes, people with type 1 diabetes with EPI had a statistically significant (p < 0.001) higher mean score (range 0–225) on the EPI/PEI-SS (100.86, SD: 48.92) than people with T1D without EPI (31.59, SD: 28.25), distinct from other GI conditions (p < 0.001). Similar patterns occurred in those with T2D. Conclusions: High EPI/PEI-SS scores seem to distinguish between likely EPI and other GI conditions among people with diabetes, and the EPI/PEI-SS should be further studied as a possible screening method for EPI at a population level. It should also be evaluated as a tool to aid individuals with diabetes in tracking changes to EPI symptoms over time based on PERT titration. Full article

In an era where digitalization shapes economic and social landscapes, the intersection of digital skills, ethics, and integrity plays a crucial role in understanding the vulnerability of youth classified as NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training). This study explores how risky internet use and digital skill gaps contribute to socio-economic exclusion, integrating a multivariate and spatial approach to assess regional disparities in Europe. This study adopts a systems thinking perspective to explore digital exclusion as an emergent outcome of multiple interrelated subsystems. The research employs logistic regression, Principal Component Analysis (PCA) with Promax rotation, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to examine the impact of digital behaviors on NEET status. Using Eurostat data aggregated at the country level for the period (2000–2023) across 28 European countries, this study evaluates 24 digital indicators covering social media usage, instant messaging, daily internet access, data protection awareness, and digital literacy levels. The findings reveal that low digital skills significantly increase the likelihood of being NEET, while excessive social media and internet use show mixed effects depending on socio-economic context. A strong negative correlation between digital security practices and NEET status suggests that youths with a higher awareness of online risks are less prone to socio-economic exclusion. The GIS analysis highlights regional disparities, where countries with limited digital access and lower literacy levels exhibit higher NEET rates. Digital exclusion is not merely a technological issue but a multidimensional socio-economic challenge. To reduce the NEET rate, policies must focus on enhancing digital skills, fostering online security awareness, and addressing regional disparities. Integrating GIS methods allows for the identification of territorial clusters with heightened digital vulnerabilities, guiding targeted interventions for improving youth employability in the digital economy. E-commerce growth has reshaped consumer behavior and retail services, driving parcel demand and challenging last-mile logistics. Existing research predominantly relies on survey data and global regression models that overlook intra-urban spatial heterogeneity in shopping behaviors. This study bridges this gap by analyzing e-commerce demand’s spatial distribution from a retail service perspective, identifying key drivers, and evaluating implications for omnichannel strategies and logistics. Utilizing waybill big data, spatial analysis, and multiscale geographically weighted regression, we reveal: (1) High-density e-commerce demand areas are predominantly located in central districts, whereas peripheral regions exhibit statistically lower volumes. The spatial distribution pattern of e-commerce demand aligns with the urban development spatial structure. (2) Factors such as population density and education levels significantly influence e-commerce demand. (3) Convenience stores play a dual role as retail service providers and parcel collection points, reinforcing their importance in shaping consumer accessibility and service efficiency, particularly in underserved urban areas. (4) Supermarkets exert a substitution effect on online shopping by offering immediate product availability, highlighting their role in shaping consumer purchasing preferences and retail service strategies. These findings contribute to retail and consumer services research by demonstrating how spatial e-commerce demand patterns reflect consumer shopping preferences, the role of omnichannel retail strategies, and the competitive dynamics between e-commerce and physical retail formats.
