Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Pharmacists around the world are trained as ‘medicine experts’ and are considered to be one of the most accessible health professions.1 Pharmacists have an important role to play in ensuring safe and efficacious use of medications within healthcare systems, especially considering that medications are the most commonly made intervention in healthcare.2 To fulfil this role, pharmacists must establish trusting relationships with their patients.3,4 These relationships are underpinned by the professionalism and professional behaviour demonstrated by the individual pharmacist and the pharmacy profession.5 To achieve our goals as a profession, it is important to embed quality into our practice. This Special Edition will publish papers that discuss issues around embedding quality into practice and showcase research programs that are designed to enhance quality in pharmacy practice and their outcomes. The Special Edition will also seek input from educational initiatives that are being embedded in curriculum and CPD programs that help to define, support and improve the delivery of quality care in pharmacy.
