Dear Colleagues,
Electroanalysis provides unique advantages in terms of simplicity and the possibility for miniaturization and seamless integration with modern electronics and digital technology. Recently, a new and significant application is integrating the concept of electroanalytical methods for wearable devices, continuous monitoring and convenient point-of-care sensing devices. Several platforms include flexible and stretchable patches, contact lenses, face masks, mouth guards, wristbands, bandages, tattoos, smart textiles, microneedles, flexible test-stripping, paper-based devices, and many more. These open the possibility for a new area of analytical chemistry that general users can use outside the laboratory in their daily life.
The intention of this special issue is to introduce the updated research activities in electrochemical sensors, wearable sensors, and easy-to-use or compact sensors. The applications would cover healthcare, agriculture, food safety, and environmental monitoring, such as detecting metabolites, biomarkers, nutrients, toxic substances, etc. Moreover, this special issue is endeavored to publish principles and technologies, including materials, methods, signal analysis, machine learning, or fabrications, to address the problems faced by researchers who apply electroanalytical methods for wearable and point-of-care devices. The electrochemical energy devices and portable electronics that demonstrate the way to support the integration of electroanalytical systems for compact and/or wearable sensors can be included. We hope to collect papers that make contributions to the fields of wearable and point-of-care electrochemical devices.
The special issue will publish original and review articles or communications of preliminary but significant or inspiring results which demonstrate current research topics or directions. This issue aims at gathering articles that highlight some of the following topics:
- Electroanalysis
- Wearable and point-of-care devices: many platforms of devices are included, such as flexible and stretchable devices, contact lenses, face masks, mouth guard, textile-based devices, wristbands, bandages, tattoos, microneedles, flexible test-stripping, paper-based devices, etc.
- Applied materials for electrochemical sensors
- Internet-of-Things (IoT)-enabled electroanalytical sensing systems
- in vitro or in vivo monitoring
- (Bio)chemical sensors
- Sensors and electronics to receive electrical signals or chemical, biological or clinical information using biofluids such as sweat, interstitial fluid, tear, saliva, urine, and breath.
- Modeling and machine learning to support the progress in wearable and point-of-care electrochemical devices

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process.
