LC-MS Approach in Specialized Natural Products Research

Dear Colleagues,

Over the past few years, hyphenated techniques as high-performance liquid chromatography coupled to mass high resolution mass spectrometry (HPLC-HRMS) has been used as a powerful tool for the dereplication of known specialized natural products in phytochemistry. Moreover, it has the potential to yield information on the molecular weight as well as on the structure of new natural compounds. LC/HRMS analysis of crude plant extracts allows the localization and targeted isolation of new types of constituents with potential activities. In addition, molecular networking has revealed an approach in dereplication strategies that organizes MS/MS data based on chemical similarity. This Special Issue aims to provide an opportunity for the dissemination of the new approaches and techniques on integrated LC/HRMS strategies for structural elucidation of known and new specialized natural products. As this Special Issue belongs to a section of a chemical journal, all presented work in it must be clearly related to chemical knowledge, i.e., work on extracts or herbal preparations without reliable characterization of chemical constituents will not be considered.

Manuscript Submission Information

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process.
