Dear Colleagues,

This Special Issue, entitled "Advanced Research in Shape Memory Alloys," showcases the latest breakthroughs and comprehensive reviews in the design, processing, and functional characterization of SMAs. As versatile functional materials, SMAs continue to revolutionize industries—from aerospace and robotics to biomedical engineering—leveraging their unique superelasticity and shape memory effects. We invite contributions exploring fundamental phase transformation kinetics, microstructure–property relationships, and the development of high-performance systems, such as NiTi-based, Cu-based, high-temperature, and ferromagnetic SMAs. By bridging the gap between theoretical modeling and industrial application, this Special Issue serves as a premier platform for advancements that enhance the reliability and functionality of next-generation smart materials.

Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Metals is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
