Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Corrosion of metal and alloy structures and equipment poses a major problem for many industries and majorily impacts the global economy. It also endangers the lives of employees and seriously affects the environment in the event of an accident. To face this challenge, an increasing number of studies have focused on environmentally friendly, renewable, and efficient corrosion inhibitors, promising alternatives to toxic corrosion inhibitors, to control corrosion damage in diverse corrosive environments. These materials include plant extracts, amino acids, ion fluids, natural polymers/carbohydrates, and quantum carbon dots. While the subject of corrosion inhibition has been a classic research topic in recent decades, a comprehensive understanding of this phenomenon would aid the development of improved materials able to reduce its dramatic consequences.

In this regard, this special issue aims to shed light on recent advances and breakthroughs in the use of green inhibitors to protect metallic materials from corrosion under different corrosive mediums, such as acidic, neutral, alkaline, sweet-sour, and concrete porous environments. We encourage academia and industrial researchers to submit high-quality original research papers on subjects such as:

  • Vapor inhibitors for corrosion protection;
  • Corrosion inhibition strategy and synergy effects;
  • Nanomaterials as corrosion inhibitors;
  • Corrosion inhibitors for new energy and petrochemical industries;
  • Develop high-temperature corrosion inhibitors;
  • Plant extracts, ionic fluids, and pharmaceutical drugs as environmentally responsible corrosion inhibitors;
  • Computational approaches used in corrosion inhibition;
  • Organic-inorganic hybrid corrosion inhibitor.
