Special Issue Information

Dear colleagues,

As bariatric and metabolic surgery continues to evolve, novel procedures and minimally invasive strategies are transforming the management of obesity and its related comorbidities. This Special Issue focuses on innovative techniques in the treatment of obesity, encompassing both surgical and endoscopic approaches. The aim is to explore how advances in technology, surgical instrumentation and procedural refinement are improving safety, efficacy and patient outcomes. In particular, we highlight recent developments in laparoscopic and robotic-assisted surgery, which allow for enhanced precision, reduced complications and faster recovery times.

Moreover, the expanding field of endoscopic bariatric and metabolic therapies represents an exciting frontier, offering less invasive alternatives for patients who may not be suitable candidates for traditional surgery. These interventions, including endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty and intragastric balloon placement, have shown promising results in weight loss and metabolic improvement.

We welcome original research articles, systematic reviews and technical reports addressing innovations in technique, patient selection criteria, perioperative management and long-term outcomes. By bringing together diverse perspectives from clinical practice and research, this Special Issue aims to provide a comprehensive overview of current trends and future directions in the interventional treatment of obesity, ultimately contributing to improved patient care and broader accessibility to effective therapies.
