Catalytic Applications for Oxidized Carbon Materials

This special issue belongs to the section “Catalytic Materials“.

Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The growing interest in sustainable chemistry and efforts to reduce environmental harm in this field has driven the recent development of carbocatalysis. The possibility it presents of efficiently conducting many reactions under solvent- and metal-free conditions has greatly stimulated its development. As heterogeneous catalysts are used in this process, the carbon material can be recycled and reused with no loss or minimal loss in efficiency; thus, they represent an excellent alternative to other heterogeneous catalysts.

The ability of these carbonaceous materials to catalyze numerous reactions of synthetic interest and be functionalized paves the road for further investigation and makes them promising materials for more applications of industrial interest. The great potential of these materials is, in fact, not only due to their possible applications as catalysts for many organic reactions, but also their ability to be both fillers and catalysts in nanocomposites, especially in thermosets.

With this in mind, the aim of this Special Issue is to gather advanced research on catalytic processes, new catalytic carbon materials and novel approaches to carbocatalysis. We welcome research papers and review articles dealing with fundamental and applied aspects of carbon catalytic application. We also aim to showcase the success of carbocatalysis as a central tool in the efforts to increase sustainability and reduce environmental impact in this field.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Materials is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
