Tribological Performance and Applications of Environmentally Friendly Biolubricants
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to invite submissions for this Special Issue, titled “Tribological Performance and Applications of Environmentally Friendly Biolubricants.” Our goal in this edition is to publish manuscripts in the field of tribology focused on biolubricants derived from vegetable oils and animal fats, as well as biolubricants obtained from mineral oil components that undergo chemical synthesis to achieve environmentally favorable characteristics.
We are seeking review papers and original research articles that provide significant contributions on the performance of biolubricants obtained through chemical synthesis and evaluated in tribological tests. Studies on biolubricants produced via chemical synthesis are welcome regardless of their origin, which may include renewable or conventionally sourced feedstocks. These papers will help advance understanding of which chemical syntheses are most promising for producing biolubricants, as well as the anti-friction and anti-wear behavior of these molecules, and the morphologies and wear mechanisms of surfaces lubricated by them. The scope of this edition includes topics such as chemical synthesis, friction, wear, lubrication, lubrication mechanisms, and lubrication regimes.
We look forward to receiving submissions from both academic and industrial researchers to expand knowledge in this field. This call represents an opportunity for your research to reach a diverse audience of specialists in biolubricants, increasing both the visibility of your work and its citation potential.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Lubricants is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
