Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Endometriosis and endometrial cancer are both estrogen-dependent conditions; however, they constitute completely different conditions.

Endometriosis is a benign gynaecological disease with a pathogenesis that is not fully understood. As a chronic inflammatory disease, it causes chronic pelvic pain, may lead to infertility, and impairs quality of life, social relationsions and the ability to work.

Endometrial cancer is the most frequent gynaecologic malign tumour in developed countries. Despite the identification of several risk factors, the exact cause of this neoplasm is still unclear. Although endometrial cancer is traditionally considered an estrogen-dependent disease, not all cases are associated with estrogen exposure.

In recent years, there have been remarkable developments in diagnostic and treatment strategies for both conditions. Despite considerable progress, further research is needed to improve clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction. We invite researchers to contribute original articles, state-of-the-art reviews, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, challenging/informative case series, or hypotheses of potential mechanisms.
