Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Autoimmune inflammatory rheumatic diseases (AIIRDs) are a large and heterogeneous group of conditions that share common underlying pathogenetic features but also present unique clinical features such as clinically diverse phenotypes, demographic characteristics, organ system involvement, and therapeutic response. These diseases include rheumatoid arthritis, spondyloarthritis-spectrum diseases, and connective tissue disorders, among others.

AIIRDs are currently incurable, but the availability of novel immune-targeted therapeutics, as well as stringent inflammation control, has dramatically improved quality of life and longevity for patients with AIIRDs. However, there remain many unmet medical needs, such as issues regarding primary or secondary unresponsiveness, adverse effects, and long-term drug maintenance. It is essential that we address these unmet needs to improve therapeutic outcomes in AIIRD patients.

The aim of this Special Issue is to provide the latest research findings and clinical advancements in diagnosis, comorbidities, and treatment strategies using biologic and nonbiologic immune-targeted therapies for AIIRDs and to address many unmet needs that continue to beleaguer the management of AIIRD patients. I welcome high-quality original research papers and comprehensive reviews that enhance our awareness and understanding of these challenging conditions and contribute to developing new ideas and future research directions on novel immune-targeted therapeutics for AIIRDs.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Journal of Clinical Medicine is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs).
