Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Radical prostatectomy continues to represent a cornerstone in the treatment of localized and locally advanced prostate cancer. In recent years, the surgical landscape has witnessed significant paradigm shifts mainly driven by innovation and the pursuit of enhanced patient outcomes and recovery. Notably, the emergence of single-port robotic surgery has streamlined operative access, thus reducing the invasiveness while maintaining oncologic efficacy. Simultaneously, the integration of artificial intelligence into surgical planning and intraoperative navigation holds the potential to refine decision-making, personalize patient care, and reduce variability in outcomes.
Advances in perioperative optimization have further improved patient experience by reducing hospital stays, minimizing complications, and accelerating patient’s recovery. Despite these achievements, the everyday surgical practice is still burdened by several challenges, ranging from optimizing patient selection and preserving functional outcomes to evaluating the real-world impact of novel technologies.
This Special Issue aims to highlight the evolving landscape of Prostatectomy by focusing on contemporary approaches such as single-port surgery, AI-assisted techniques, and modern minimally invasive strategies within an optimized perioperative framework. We welcome original research and comprehensive reviews that explore technical innovations, patient-centred outcomes, and future directions in surgical management of prostate cancer.
Topics which will be welcomed in this Special Issue of Journal of Clinical Medicine include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Single-port robot-assisted radical prostatectomy: new access options, technical refinements and clinical outcomes
- Comparative analysis of robot assisted multiport versus single port radical prostatectomy in complex patient’s settings.
- Artificial intelligence in surgical planning, image guidance, and intraoperative decision-making
- Functional outcomes following prostatectomy: continence and sexual function preservation
- Enhanced recovery after prostatectomy: perioperative optimization and patient pathways
- Patient selection criteria and risk stratification for surgical treatment of prostate cancer
- The role of lymph node dissection on survival outcomes in cN+ patients
- Radical prostatectomy in oligometastatic patients, a possible future?
- Novel imaging modalities for preoperative planning and intraoperative navigation
- Oncologic outcomes in the era of advanced robotic and AI-guided techniques
- Intraoperative and postoperative complication management in minimally invasive prostatectomy
- The role of surgeon training and learning curve in emerging surgical technologies
- Modular training models in the era of multiple robotic platforms
We look forward to your valuable contributions and insights.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Journal of Clinical Medicine is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
