Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Eating disorders remain among the most complex and lethal psychiatric conditions, with many individuals experiencing limited response to existing treatments. In recent years, psychology has been a central driver of innovation in the conceptualization and treatment of eating disorders, giving rise to emerging therapeutic pathways that extend beyond traditional models of care. These developments include novel adaptations of established psychotherapies, transdiagnostic and mechanism-focused approaches, relational and family-based innovations, digital and blended interventions, and treatments designed for individuals with severe, enduring, or medically complex presentations.
This Special Issue aims to highlight cutting-edge psychological interventions that advance clinical understanding, improve treatment effectiveness, and address longstanding gaps in eating disorder care. We invite original research, reviews, and clinically grounded contributions that examine emerging psychological treatments across the lifespan and care settings. Submissions may focus on treatment development, feasibility, implementation, personalization of care, integration with medical management, or ethical and systemic considerations shaping therapeutic decision-making.
By bringing together diverse perspectives and methodologies, this Special Issue seeks to illuminate how evolving psychological approaches can transform treatment pathways, enhance recovery-oriented care, and inform interdisciplinary practice in eating disorders.
