Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Regular participation in exercise and sport provides substantial benefits for physical, metabolic, cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, and psychological health. However, sports participation may also be accompanied by acute injuries, overuse conditions, impaired performance, and complex rehabilitation needs. Meanwhile, therapeutic exercise is increasingly recognized as an essential component of disease prevention, clinical management, functional recovery, and healthy aging. These developments highlight the need to integrate evidence from exercise science, sports medicine, and clinical rehabilitation.

We are pleased to invite you to contribute to this Special Issue, entitled “Exercise, Injury, Disease and Rehabilitation: Clinical Perspectives in Sports Medicine.” This Special Issue aims to present clinically relevant and translational evidence covering the continuum from injury prevention, diagnosis, and treatment to rehabilitation and safe return to sport or physical activity. It also seeks to advance exercise-based approaches for preventing and managing chronic diseases and functional decline.

Original research articles, clinical trials, cohort and observational studies, diagnostic and prognostic studies, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and high-quality narrative reviews are welcome. Research areas may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Sports injury epidemiology, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment;
  • Exercise-based rehabilitation and return-to-sport decision-making;
  • Therapeutic exercise for musculoskeletal and chronic diseases;
  • Exercise prescription and individualized rehabilitation programs;
  • Skeletal muscle dysfunction, sarcopenia, and functional decline;
  • Physiological, molecular, biomechanical, and psychological determinants of recovery;
  • Monitoring and prediction of exercise or rehabilitation responses;
  • Wearable devices, digital health, and artificial intelligence in sports medicine;
  • Nutrition, recovery, and exercise performance;
  • Clinical outcomes and quality of life following exercise-based interventions.

We look forward to receiving your contributions.
