The Role of Physical Activity in Healthy Aging and Chronic Disease Prevention
This special issue belongs to the section “Exercise and Health-Related Quality of Life“.
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Population aging and the growing prevalence of chronic non-communicable diseases constitute major global public health challenges. In research, physical activity has emerged as a cornerstone strategy for promoting healthy aging, preserving functional capacity, and preventing or mitigating chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, obesity, neurodegenerative disorders, and musculoskeletal conditions.
The aim of this Special Issue is to highlight original research and high-quality reviews that explore the role of physical activity across the lifespan, with particular emphasis on aging populations. We welcome studies addressing physiological, metabolic, cardiovascular, neurological, and psychosocial mechanisms underlying exercise-induced health benefits, as well as interventions, clinical trials, and public health approaches that support active aging and chronic disease prevention.
