Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
This Special Issue focuses on recent advances in the propagation, breeding, production systems, and postharvest management of fruit crops. As global fruit production faces increasing challenges related to climate variability, resource limitations, and the demand for improved fruit quality and shelf life, there is growing interest in integrated approaches that enhance orchards’ efficiency, sustainability, and productivity from production to postharvest handling. This Special Issue aims to provide a platform for research that connects horticultural science with both applied production practices and postharvest technologies across diverse fruit crop systems.
Topics covered include modern and conventional breeding approaches, improved propagation techniques, and advances in nursery management that support the production of high-quality planting materials. Particular attention is also given to rootstock–scion interactions and their influence on tree vigor, yield stability, fruit quality, and postharvest performance. In addition, contributions addressing orchard design, high-density planting systems, canopy management, and innovative production strategies are welcome, particularly those that promote the efficient use of land, water, and other inputs.
The Special Issue also encourages submissions on postharvest physiology, storage technologies, fruit handling, quality preservation, and supply chain innovations aimed at extending shelf life and reducing losses. By bringing pre- and postharvest perspectives, this Special Issue seeks to advance approaches that improve productivity, fruit quality, postharvest stability, and supply chain efficiency.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Horticulturae is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
