Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The efficient regulation of water demand is a key challenge in horticultural crop production, particularly under increasing water scarcity, climate variability, and the need for sustainable intensification. Recent advances in irrigation technologies, sensing systems, modeling approaches, and decision-support tools have enabled more precise water management, improving water use efficiency while maintaining crop yield and quality.
This Special Issue aims to bring together high-quality research addressing innovative technologies and management strategies for water demand regulation in horticultural systems, including fruit, vegetable, ornamental, and specialty crops. Contributions may focus on digital and smart irrigation systems, soil–plant–atmosphere continuum monitoring, deficit and regulated irrigation strategies, remote sensing, crop and soil modeling, and the application of artificial intelligence and precision agriculture tools to irrigation management.
Both original research articles and comprehensive review papers are welcome. By integrating experimental, analytical, and modeling approaches, this Special Issue seeks to advance scientific knowledge and practical solutions for sustainable, resilient, and efficient water management in horticultural crop production.

Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Horticulturae is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
