Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The global transition toward sustainable and energy-efficient technologies has placed electric machines at the heart of modern power-conversion systems. Ranging from electric vehicles and smart grids to industrial automation and renewable energy systems, electric machines are now required to deliver higher performance with improved energy efficiency, reduced losses, and enhanced reliability. Recent progress in materials, computational optimization, digital design tools, and advanced control strategies has opened new avenues for optimizing electric machine performance in diverse and demanding applications. Consequently, the need for innovative design, intelligent control, and system-level optimization of electric machines is greater than ever, pushing the boundaries of traditional engineering approaches.
This Special Issue aims to present and disseminate the latest advancements in the design, optimization, control, and energy efficiency enhancement of electric machines across all sectors. It encourages original contributions that address emerging technologies, practical challenges, and theoretical developments that contribute to the optimal performance of electric machines in real-world applications.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Design and optimization of high-efficiency electric machines;
- Loss minimization techniques and thermal management;
- Novel materials and manufacturing technologies for electric machines;
- Optimization of electric drives for EVs, HEVs, and industrial automation;
- Integration of AI and digital twins in electric machine design;
- Multi-objective optimization and model-based control;
- Energy-efficient motor technologies for HVAC, robotics, and appliances;
- Advances in permanent magnet, induction, and reluctance machines;
- Power electronics and control strategies for energy efficiency;
- Real-time monitoring and performance evaluation techniques.
We look forward to receiving your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Energies is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
