Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
This Special Issue, entitled “Advances in Intelligent and Optimal Control: Theory and Applications”, aims to present recent theoretical, computational, and applied developments in intelligent control and optimization. With the increasing complexity of modern systems and the growing demand for autonomy, precision, robustness, and efficiency, advanced control and optimization approaches have become essential in both research and real-world applications.
The objective of this Special Issue is to bring together researchers and practitioners working at the intersection of control theory, computational intelligence, optimization, and system modeling. We welcome high-quality original research articles and review papers addressing novel methodologies, emerging trends, and practical implementations in this broad and rapidly evolving field.
We invite original research articles, review papers, and case studies on topics including, but not limited to:
- Intelligent and adaptive control methods;
- Optimization-based controller design and tuning;
- Predictive, robust, and nonlinear control;
- Data-driven and learning-based control approaches;
- Dynamic systems modeling and control;
- Robotics and autonomous systems;
- Mechatronic systems and motion control.
- Multi-objective optimization in control applications;
- Modeling, simulation, and digital twin-assisted control;
- Fault diagnosis, fault-tolerant control, and system monitoring;
- Real-time optimization and decision-making for complex systems.
This Special Issue seeks to provide a platform for interdisciplinary contributions that advance both theoretical foundations and practical applications of intelligent control and optimization. We hope this collection will serve as a valuable reference for researchers, engineers, and academics working in control, optimization, robotics, mechatronics, and related areas.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Electronics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
