Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The development of AI moves traditional life into the meta-world, which also brings a huge change in the education field. Currently, AI-assited education is the first choice for almost all schools, colleges, and universities. Under this situation, the study and analysis of AI-assited education is becoming a research hotspot. Therefore, to achieve a breakthrough in the reform of the “new education age”, we must respond to the urgent needs of worldwide education reform under AI rush and serve the practical requirements for future education development. It is necessary to gather high-level professionals of education technology and information technology to conduct in-depth cooperation and interdisciplinary cross research. The entire research field aims to integrate general data science and data from principles of pedagogy to tackle the key and difficult issues in the educational field, which is an urgent task used to promote the future development of education. This Special Issue aims to provide an opportunity for researchers to publish both theoretical and technological studies of emerging theory within AI-related educational reform, and their novel engineering applications within this domain. Surveys of excellent quality are also welcome.

Potential topic, but not limited:

  • online education with AI
  • AI-assisted educational system
  • automatic text correction
  • curriculum reform in AI age
  • teacher professional development
  • e-learning and e-education with AI

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a double-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Education Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1800 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.

Benefits of Publishing in a Special Issue

  • Ease of navigation: Grouping papers by topic helps scholars navigate broad scope journals more efficiently.
  • Greater discoverability: Special Issues support the reach and impact of scientific research. Articles in Special Issues are more discoverable and cited more frequently.
  • Expansion of research network: Special Issues facilitate connections among authors, fostering scientific collaborations.
  • External promotion: Articles in Special Issues are often promoted through the journal's social media, increasing their visibility.
  • e-Book format: Special Issues with more than 10 articles can be published as dedicated e-books, ensuring wide and rapid dissemination.

Hybrid learning is a complex combination of face-to-face and online learning. This model combines the use of multimedia materials with traditional classroom work. Virtual hybrid learning is employed alongside face-to-face methods. That aims to investigate using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to increase student engagement in hybrid learning settings. Educators are confronted with contemporary issues in maintaining their students’ interest and motivation as the popularity of online and hybrid education continues to grow, where many educational institutions are adopting this model due to its flexibility, student-teacher engagement, and peer-to-peer interaction. AI will help students communicate, collaborate, and receive real-time feedback, all of which are challenges in education. This article examines the advantages and disadvantages of hybrid education and the optimal approaches for incorporating Artificial Intelligence (AI) in educational settings. The research findings suggest that using AI can revolutionize hybrid education, as it enhances both student and instructor autonomy while fostering a more engaging and interactive learning environment.
