Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (CFS/ME) is a severe, debilitating disorder that has garnered increasing attention from both the scientific community and the general public, particularly in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. Although this condition has been recognized since the mid-20th century, the majority of research in this field has emerged over the last decade.
Despite numerous studies, pathophysiological mechanisms and effective treatment strategies in ME/CFS remain incompletely understood. The complexity of this condition often necessitates a multidisciplinary approach involving neurology, immunology, cardiology, rheumatology, and other specialties, both in diagnosis and management. This is particularly relevant given that approximately three quarters of patients develop symptoms following a "flu-like" illness, and a substantial proportion of affected individuals remain undiagnosed. Additionally, diagnostic challenges arise due to the overlap with various other post-infectious syndromes, such as Lyme disease.
Consequently, ME/CFS constitutes a broad and dynamic area of research that intersects multiple scientific disciplines, including infectious diseases, immunology, dysautonomia, gut microbiome studies, and mitochondrial disorders.
The objective of this Special Issue is to investigate various aspects of the diagnosis, management, and prognosis of ME/CFS, and we encourage contributions from researchers and studies across diverse fields in contemporary medicine.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Diagnostics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
