The aim of this section is to cover the different steps that a lead must undergo in order to become a promising drug candidate. Among those steps, mention can be made of in-depth in vitro evaluation as well as pharmacological studies and determination of efficacy and toxicity in animal models (ADME).

Development of drug delivery systems fall in the scope of this section.
