Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Chronic cancer-related lymphedema is a debilitating complication affecting many cancer survivors, significantly impairing quality of life. Microsurgical techniques, such as lymphaticovenous anastomosis (LVA) and vascularized lymph node transfer (VLNT), have emerged as promising treatments to restore lymphatic drainage. However, their widespread adoption remains limited due to technical complexity, variability in long-term outcomes, and the need for specialized surgical expertise.
This Special Issue focuses on advancing the microsurgical management of chronic cancer-related lymphedema. We welcome original research and reviews addressing:
- Surgical innovations (e.g., supermicrosurgery, intraoperative imaging)
- Preoperative planning (Artificial Intelligence, imaging, patient selection)
- Postoperative outcomes (patency rates, volume reduction)
- Patient-reported quality of life (validated assessment tools)
Contributions highlighting multidisciplinary approaches, comparative studies, or novel techniques are particularly encouraged. By consolidating the latest evidence, this issue aims to refine surgical strategies and improve patient care.
We look forward to your contributions.
