Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Head and neck cancers represent an important clinical challenge due to their complex anatomy, diverse histopathology, and variable prognosis. Accurate diagnosis and effective treatment planning are critical to improving patient outcomes and prognosis. Advanced imaging modalities, especially Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Positron Emission Tomography/Computed Tomography (PET/CT), have become indispensable tools in the evaluation of head and neck malignancies. MRI offers superior soft tissue contrast and detailed anatomical delineation, while PET/CT provides metabolic and functional insights that enhance tumor detection, staging, and monitoring. This Special Issue aims to gather cutting-edge research and clinical studies focusing on the integration of MRI and PET/CT in the diagnosis, staging, and surgical management of head and neck cancers. Exploring novel imaging techniques, presenting their contributions to image-guided surgery, discussing the benefits of multidisciplinary approaches, and examining the outcomes of surgical interventions are highly encouraged. This Special Issue aims to support clinicians and researchers in optimizing and improving diagnostic accuracy and therapeutic strategies for head and neck cancer patients.
In this Special Issue, original research articles and reviews are welcome. Research areas may include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Presenting any novel technique that may improve diagnostic accuracy for the detection the tumors;
- Presenting any novel technique that may improve surgical intervention for malignant tumors;
- Discussing the importance of early diagnosis and therapeutic management of patients
- Follow-up;
- Early detection of the recurrences;
- Differential diagnosis of the recurrences and fibrotic changes.
I look forward to receiving your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Cancers is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2900 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
