Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Gastrointestinal (GI) malignancies remain among the leading causes of cancer-related morbidity and mortality worldwide. At the same time, endocrine tumors (such as thyroid and adrenal cancers) are gaining prominence, with thyroid cancer now recognized as the most common endocrine malignancy and its incidence steadily rising. Recent advances in medical technology and research have significantly improved how we diagnose and treat these cancers. Modern diagnostic approaches—including high-resolution endoscopy, advanced imaging, molecular biomarkers, and artificial intelligence-assisted analysis—enable earlier detection and more accurate characterization of GI and endocrine tumors. Similarly, therapeutic innovations are enhancing patient outcomes: robotic-assisted and laparoscopic surgical techniques offer improved precision and faster recoveries, while precision radiotherapy and novel systemic treatments (targeted therapies and immunotherapies) are extending survival in both localized and metastatic disease. Despite these advances, many challenges remain in optimizing care for patients with colorectal, gastric, pancreatic, and metastatic liver cancers, as well as those with endocrine neoplasms like thyroid and adrenal tumors.
This Special Issue of Cancers (MDPI) is dedicated to “Modern Diagnostics and Treatment of Gastrointestinal and Endocrine Cancers.” We aim to highlight state-of-the-art research and clinical developments that are shaping the future of oncology in these fields. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following: innovative surgical techniques (e.g., robotic and image-guided surgery) for GI and endocrine tumors; advancements in endoscopic diagnostics and interventions; the integration of artificial intelligence in cancer detection, pathology, and treatment planning; improvements in radiotherapy (such as stereotactic and radionuclide therapies); novel biomarkers and liquid biopsy approaches for early cancer detection; and multidisciplinary management strategies for advanced or metastatic disease. Original research articles, clinical studies, and comprehensive review papers are all welcome. By bringing together contributions from experts in surgery, oncology, endocrinology, radiology, and related disciplines, this Special Issue will provide a platform for sharing knowledge on cutting-edge diagnostic modalities and treatment protocols that can improve patient outcomes and quality of life.
We kindly invite you to submit your latest research findings or review articles to this Special Issue. Through your contributions, we hope to accelerate progress in the diagnosis and treatment of GI and endocrine cancers. We look forward to receiving your valuable submissions.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Cancers is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2900 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.

Benefits of Publishing in a Special Issue
- Ease of navigation: Grouping papers by topic helps scholars navigate broad scope journals more efficiently.
- Greater discoverability: Special Issues support the reach and impact of scientific research. Articles in Special Issues are more discoverable and cited more frequently.
- Expansion of research network: Special Issues facilitate connections among authors, fostering scientific collaborations.
- External promotion: Articles in Special Issues are often promoted through the journal's social media, increasing their visibility.
- Reprint: MDPI Books provides the opportunity to republish successful Special Issues in book format, both online and in print.
