Optimal Design of Lighting/Daylighting in Buildings

Dear Colleagues,

The purpose of this Special Issue is to attract original articles that focus on Optimal Design of Lighting and Daylighting in Buildings. The topics include, but are not limited to, analytical, experimental, and simulation techniques applicable to the design of lighting/daylighting. This Special Issue aims to highlight the optimal design of lighting/daylighting, and therefore, optimization techniques are highly sought after. Techniques based on Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence applicable to the optimal design of lighting/daylighting are welcome. While computational approaches or simulations are preferred, the relevant analytical methods are also encouraged. Furthermore, experimental procedures that contribute to an optimal design are also encouraged, including experimental efforts for the verification of analytical or simulation techniques. This Special Issue is also interested in research that introduces and implements design tools for lighting/daylighting. Moreover, the applications of Responsive, Adaptive, Kinetic Facades and Smart Windows for the optimal design of daylighting are desired. The impacts of optimal design for lighting/daylighting on Energy Consumption and Energy Management are also of interest. Research articles covering topics such as Visual Comfort, Human Health and Well-being, Non-Visual Impacts of Light, as well as Ethical, Societal and Environmental issues related to the optimal design of lighting/daylighting will also be considered.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Buildings is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
