Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

With the surging demand for high-energy density rechargeable batteries (lithium-ion batteries, thermal batteries, solid-state lithium batteries and other batteries with energy density higher than 240 Wh/kg) with a C-rate ≥1 for use in electric vehicles and large-scale energy storage systems, battery thermal management has become a critical technology for ensuring safety and extending service life. This Special Issue will systematically integrate the theoretical foundations, advanced materials, innovative system designs, and intelligent control strategies of thermal management to provide comprehensive solutions for next-generation battery thermal management, thereby enhancing battery safety and reliability. The Special Issue will focus on advanced thermal management strategies for high-energy-density battery systems. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. High-Energy Density Battery Multi-Scale Thermo-Electro-Mechanical Modeling and Simulation;
  2. Measurement of thermal properties (anisotropic thermal conductivity, specific heat capacity, etc.) and heat generation performance of high-energy-density batteries;
  3. High-Energy Density Battery High-Performance Thermal Interface Materials and Heat-Conductive Structures;
  4. Advanced Active and Passive Cooling Technologies for High-Energy Density Batteries;
  5. Intelligent Thermal Management Control Strategies for High-Energy Density Batteries;
  6. High-Energy Density Battery Thermal Safety and Thermal Runaway Mitigation under Extreme Conditions;
  7. Transient Thermal Management for Fast-Charging Batteries;
  8. Lightweight and Integrated Thermal Management System Design for High-Energy Density Batteries;
  9. Sustainable and Low-Cost Thermal Management Solutions for High-Energy Density Batteries.

We look forward to receiving your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Batteries is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2700 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
