Batteries 2023 Travel Award
Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to announce that Batteries will be granting the Travel Award to one junior scientist. Applications will be assessed by an Evaluation Committee consisting of senior scholars from the Batteries Editorial Board.
This award provides financial support for the winner to attend an international conference on a field related to batteries and electrical energy storage systems to be held in 2023, in order to hold a presentation, present a poster, or both.
Candidate Requirements:
– Postdoctoral fellows or PhD students;
– Plans to attend an international conference in 2023 (oral presentation or poster).
Required Application Documents:
– Information of the conference the applicant is planning to attend and the abstract that will be submitted;
– Curriculum vitae and a list of publications;
– Justification letter describing the focus of the research (max. 800 words);
– Letter of recommendation from the supervisor, research director, or department head, which also confirms the applicant’s status as a postdoctoral fellow/PhD student.
The winner (one awardee) will be awarded CHF 500 and a certificate.
Please submit your applications for the Batteries 2023 Travel Award online by 31 January 2023. Prizes will be awarded at the end of March 2023 and announced on the Batteries website.
Batteries 2022 Best Paper Award
Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to announce the “Batteries 2022 Best Paper Award” for research and review articles published in Batteries from 1 January 2022 to 31 December 2022. Five articles will each receive an award. Papers will be selected after a thorough evaluation by the Batteries Award Committee led by the Editor-in-Chiefs, and the winners will be announced in March 2024.
Eligibility for the Award:
– Papers published in Batteries from 1 January 2022 to 31 December 2022;
– Open to all career levels;
– Both regular and Special Issue submissions will be considered.
Selection Criteria:
The papers will be selected by the journal’s Award Committee according to the following criteria (data source: Web of Science (Clarivate Analytics)):
– Scientific merit and broad impact;
– Originality of the research objectives and/or the ideas presented;
– Creativity of the study design or uniqueness of the approaches and concepts;
– Clarity of presentation;
– Citation and download rates in 2023.
Prizes:
– First award (one paper): 500 CHF and a paper published for free in Batteries;
– Second award (two papers): 200 CHF and a paper published for free in Batteries;
– Third award (two papers): 100 CHF and a paper published for free in Batteries;
– Each winner will also receive a certificate.
The winners will be announced on the journal website in March 2024.

Batteries 2022 Young Investigator Award
Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to announce that Batteries is now inviting nominations for 2022 Young Investigator Award. This prize will be given to one young investigators in recognition of their excellence in different areas of research on battery technology and materials. All nominations will be assessed by an Evaluation Committee led by the Editor-in-Chief, Prof. Dr. Andreas Jossen.
The Prize:
– 1000 CHF (Swiss Francs) for winner;
– Option to publish one paper free of charge in Batteries after peer review before the end of 31 December 2023;
– An engraved plaque.
Eligibility and Requirements:
– Must be under 35 years of age or have received their PhD no more than 8 years prior to 31 December 2021;
– Must have produced ground-breaking research and a significant contribution to the advancement of battery technology and materials;
– Candidates must be nominated by their supervisor(s), research director, or department head.
List of Documents for Nomination:
– Detailed curriculum vitae, including an updated publication list and a list of the researcher’s own research grants;
– A copy of a birth certificate or other proof of age;
– Scanned copy of doctorate certificate;
– Signed nomination letters from two established senior scientists.
Schedule:
– Open for nominations: January 2022;
– Nomination deadline: 31 December 2022;
– Winners announced: 28 February 2023.
