Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce this Special Issue of Atmosphere, entitled “Thermal and Dynamic Disasters in Coal Mines: Pollution Emissions and Response Strategies”. Coal, as a fossil energy source, remains an important global energy supply, and it is also a significant source of other high-grade energy. Importantly, there are many potential hazards in the production process of coal mines, such as coal spontaneous combustion, gas explosions, gas dynamic disasters, dust disasters, etc. The disasters that occur in coal mines can lead to a large amount of pollutants being emitted, such as the spontaneous combustion of coal causing the production of a large amount of CO, CO2, and hydrocarbons, gas dynamic disasters releasing a large amount of methane into the atmosphere, and coal mine production dust polluting the surrounding environment. The production industry has reacted to this, and safety protection advances have been made in order to protect against the pollutants generated by coal mines, such as green inhibitors for fire prevention and extinguishing, gas extraction, efficient dust reduction technology, and so on. Although there have been many studies on thermal and dynamic disasters in coal mines, the characteristics and response strategies related to pollutant emissions in coal mine disasters have not been clearly elucidated.

In this Special Issue, we aim to compile high-quality research and provide valuable resources for pollution emissions and response strategies in coal mine disasters. This Special Issue welcomes papers focused on the latest developments and applications of pollutant emissions and response strategies related to thermal and dynamic disasters in coal mines. Please note that research on coal mine disasters must focus on related aspects such as pollutant emissions, environmental impacts, and response strategies. If in doubt about the suitability of your research for this Special Issue, potential authors are invited to discuss their idea with the Guest Editor before preparing their papers for submission.
