Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This topic aims to present the latest research results on performance advances in different sports disciplines and exercise. Sports disciplines and exercise are widely practiced to enhance athletic performance. The growing interest in the quantitative and qualitative aspects of sports training is due to the fact that various training systems and new methodologies are emerging in all sports disciplines and exercise practices. On the other hand, one of the main objectives of sports research is to analyze the activity of the participants and detect effective performance indicators. Better knowledge of the performance adaptations of athletes and the dynamics of the sport during competition is very useful to optimize the training process.

The need to develop training methodologies according to the actions that occur during competition and training is essential for each sport. The results of research in this area must be disseminated to support coaches in designing and implementing evidence-based interventions. Since systematic and well-conducted sports practice is essential for performance, this topic encourages the submission of research focused on performance analysis in sports and exercise. We particularly invite contributions that explore specific performance-analysis topics, such as the biomechanical analysis of athletic techniques, movement and technique profiling, physiological monitoring and athlete assessment as well as injury prevention and recovery strategies. We also strongly encourage studies that leverage cutting-edge technologies, including wearable sensors for physiological monitoring, high-speed video analysis, motion capture systems, surface electromyography (sEMG) and electrocardiography (ECG) data acquisition and intelligent analysis.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Applied Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
