Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Nutraceuticals, encompassing bioactive compounds derived from foods and botanical sources, have gained significant scientific and clinical interest for their antioxidant properties. These substances, such as polyphenols, carotenoids, vitamins, and certain minerals, act through multiple mechanisms to neutralize reactive oxygen and nitrogen species, enhance endogenous antioxidant defenses, and reduce oxidative damage to lipids, proteins, and DNA. Current evidence indicates that nutraceutical antioxidants modulate key cellular pathways, including Nrf2-mediated gene expression and inflammatory signaling cascades, thereby contributing to improved redox balance and potential protection against chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disorders, neurodegeneration, metabolic syndrome, and certain cancers. Despite promising findings, the efficacy of nutraceuticals varies widely depending on bioavailability, dosage, molecular structure, and individual metabolic differences. Further well-designed clinical trials and mechanistic studies are required to clarify optimal formulations and therapeutic applications. Overall, nutraceuticals represent a promising adjunctive strategy for managing oxidative stress and promoting long-term health.
We invite contributions to this Special Issue that will showcase a dynamic collection of experimental findings, reviews, and commentaries focused on the impact of oxidative stress, free radicals, and antioxidant pathways and the antioxidant effects of nutraceuticals in various diseases. By bringing together diverse perspectives and novel data, this Special Issue aims to deepen our understanding of these diseases through the lens of redox biology, offering fresh insights into their mechanisms and therapeutic potential.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Antioxidants is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2900 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
