Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Recent advances in sensor technologies, distributed intelligent architectures, multi-agent systems, computer vision, and AI-based decision support are transforming modern agriculture into increasingly autonomous, adaptive, and data-driven agro-systems. Simultaneously, growing demand for resource efficiency, climate resilience, and food security is accelerating the adoption of smart technologies in precision agriculture, livestock management, greenhouse farming, and other controlled-environment agricultural systems.
This Special Issue highlights modern AI-based architectures and autonomous solutions in the agrosphere. Particular attention will be paid to autonomous and self-managing IoT platforms, edge AI, multi-agent systems, large language models (LLMs), agricultural robotics, digital twins, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs), forecasting and computer vision systems, and human-centric AI systems in agricultural environments. The Special Issue also welcomes publications addressing interoperability, scalability, explainability, sustainability, and challenges facing next-generation agricultural systems.
We request original research articles, review papers, case studies, and perspective articles on innovative methodologies, practical implementations, experimental evaluations, and emerging trends in AI-driven agriculture. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, precision agriculture, smart irrigation, crop monitoring, precision livestock farming, intelligent pasture monitoring, agricultural robotics, autonomous greenhouse systems, distributed intelligent platforms, AI-assisted decision support, and sustainable autonomous agro-ecosystems.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Agronomy is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
