Dear Colleagues,
Traditionally, post-harvest protection has relied on a narrow suite of chemical fumigants. However, the rise of widespread insecticide resistance and tightening environmental regulations have forced a significant paradigm shift. The field is rapidly evolving from a focus on reactive chemical applications toward developing precision-based Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and the integration of biorational and nanotechnology-based control strategies.
This Special Issue aims to consolidate cutting-edge research that addresses the biological and technical hurdles related to modern storage through these emerging technologies. Our scope covers the entire post-harvest lifecycle, emphasizing sustainable interventions that maintain commodities’ integrity in an increasingly regulated global market. We are seeking original research and reviews that push the boundaries of traditional storage practices by focusing on the following topics:
- Nanotechnology: The development of nanoparticles for targeted delivery, nano-encapsulated essential oils, and advanced inert dusts.
- Biorational Controls: Innovations in semiochemicals, pheromones, and modified atmospheres.
- Digital Surveillance: The use of IoT-based sensor networks, automated pheromone traps, and AI-driven predictive modeling for precision management.
- Resistance Management: Molecular and behavioral studies focused on overcoming insects’ adaptation to current biorational treatments.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Agronomy is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
