Cover Story: The 1st International Online Conference on Gels (IOCG 2025) was held online from 3 to 5 December 2025. Gels are a versatile class of soft materials with three-dimensional network structures that are increasingly important across science, engineering, and industry. Recent advances in supramolecular design, self-assembly, and stimuli-responsive systems have significantly expanded the scope and functionality of gel-based materials. The primary aim of IOCG 2025 was to provide an interdisciplinary platform for scientists and engineers to present recent research and exchange ideas on gel-based materials. Key topics included supramolecular structures and properties of gels, hydrogels, organogels, xerogels, and aerogels, gels in agriculture, food, medicine, pharmacy, manufacturing, energy, and environmental applications.
