Cover Story: The present work explores the impact of the Co/S molar ratio on the Oxygen Evolution Reaction (OER) kinetics of cobalt sulfide nanostructures, electrodeposited on a Nickel Foam (NF) substrate. It was found that the Co:S ratio profoundly influenced the structure and morphology of CoxSy@NF electrodes, with the optimum performance to be obtained for an equimolar Co:S ratio of 1:1. Structural and morphological analysis disclosed that the optimum CoS@NF electrocatalyst presented a 3D flower-like nanosheet morphology, offering the smallest particle size and the highest electrochemical active area, which are both conducive to improving the OER kinetics (low overpotential value of 0.28 V and a Tafel slope of 95 mV dec−1).
